Very Special Valentine

Hello stamping friends! Do you need a Valentine’s Day card for a very special valentine? This one is it! This card is a bit time consuming, but I think this card packs a lot of punch!

Here’s what you need to do to make your heart. You will need to cut eight strips 1/4” x 6” in four different colors. Choose any colors you like, but I used Lovely Lipstick, Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo.

Next you are going to weave all of these lovely pieces together! Take a deep breath and /put your patience cap on! It’s not that bad… You will need four strips of each color. See the below pic for how you should line up your strips. Using your grid paper for this part is also a big help. Line up four strips of each color adding scotch tape to the top so that they will stay put while you do your weaving.

Now it’s time to start weaving your remaining strips. See below pic.

This is the tedious part, but it’s soooo worth it! Keep going until you have all of your pieces woven in.

Now that you’re through the tricky and time consuming part, the rest is easy peasy. Next your going to cut your heart out with the Stitched Be Mine dies. But first, flip over your woven piece and cover the back with scotch tape. This will ensure your pieces stay together when cutting. Be sure to run your woven piece through the die cutting machine a few extra times since this woven taped piece is thicker than one piece of plain card stock. Once you’re finished cutting, you will have a beautiful heart like this one.

To get the solid color scalloped edge, I cut out another heart using a piece of Lovely Lipstick card stock. It’s time to finish up your card!

10 Weeks of Christmas!!

Capture the Good!

Hello stamping friends! This stamp set was not on my list to purchase. But that all changed when I saw it demonstrated at OnStage in the spring and loved it! This is in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog and is called Capture the Good. I like this set because it’s different than all of the other Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. It would work well for a male or female card.

The fun thing about this card is that if you use the circle punches to cut out three of the circles, then pop them up and it will give the illusion of a lens in zoom mode! I used the 1-1/4″, 1″ and 1/2″ circle punches to cut out the circles. You could also use the Layering Circle dies to create the same effect.

The cute little banner was made with the Stitched Nested Labels. I cut the whole label out using a die cutting machine, then snipped off the left side to make the banner flush with the card front.

No-Line Watercoloring Technique

Have you tried the no-line watercoloring technique? It’s sooo easy and looks beautiful! Enjoy the tutorial below.

Technique:
Pick the image that you want to watercolor. Ink up your image with Sahara Sand ink and stamp lightly two times on a piece of scrap paper, then stamp on your card stock. This method gives you an extremely light stamped image that will be almost unseen once you watercolor.

Instructions for this project:
1. Stamp the bird image on the Shimmery White CS using the no-line watercolor technique as described above.

2. Next, stamp the larger flower from the stamp set using the same technique on a scrap piece of Shimmery White CS.
3. You’re now ready to color the images using the Watercolor Pencils. Once you’ve colored the images, use the Aqua Painter to blend the colors. If you would like your image to be darker, you can go over with your watercolor pencil and add to it.

4. Using the Paper Snips, fussy cut out the flower image.
5. Stamp the sentiment “thank you” in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Shimmery White CS measuring 1/2″ x 1-3/4″.
Now it’s time to assemble your card. See placement in the first picture. I popped up the Coastal Cabana CS and the flower with dimensionals.

This month I’m a little late, but I’m offering a Class to Go with the new Above the Clouds stamp set and punch from the new
Annual 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

This is how the Class to Go will work. Pre-payment is necessary, by PayPal or in person. If you’re not local to me, there will be an added $8 for priority and insured shipping. Welcome June!

Let’s welcome June! It’s graduation time. At least in our house! My son will be graduating from high school in four days. Where has the time gone?
