Detailed with Love Birthday

July 26, 2018July 21, 2018

Hello stamping friends! In my post from the other day I mentioned that I made my daughter’s birthday card, but forgot to take a picture.  Well, after she opened it I was able to snag a pic for you all!

This is the birthday card. It’s quite simple and sweet. It is made with very vanilla and soft sea foam (her fav color). The sentiment comes from the Detailed with Love stamp set and the plant is stamped in Memento Black from the Enjoy Life stamp set.

Happy Stamping!

Tuesday’s Stamping Tip

July 24, 2018July 21, 2018

INTRODUCING
Stampin’ Up!’s Simply Shammy
Item # 147042

Hello stamping friends! When you were going through your new Stampin’ Up! catalog, you may have missed one of the new cleaning products in the accessories section. On page 206 you’ll find the Simply Shammy.

It is a reusable stamp cleaning cloth that makes stamp cleaning effortless. Just add water, then wipe stamps on the shammy. The best thing about this shammy is that it is environmentally friendly and there is  NO lint or chemicals.  The ink will stain the shammy but won’t transfer to your fingers or other stamps.  With its portable 5″ x 7″ size it fits neatly into one of the full wide stamp cases (Item #127551) for storage.

Contact me today for a catalog if you don’t have one, or you may order one of these awesome shammy’s online here.

Happy stamping!

BIRTHDAY GIRL

July 19, 2018July 18, 2018

Hello stamping friends! This post is nothing about stamping, but I thought I’d share with you that yesterday we celebrated my daughter’s 15th birthday. Sweet and sassy is the perfect way to describe this girl.  It just depends on the day, the hour, or maybe even down to the particular minute of the day.  That’s just life with a teenage daughter!  I remember those days vividly growing up with my two sisters.  Never a dull moment in the sea of estrogen at our house.  My poor father!

Caroline had a more than one birthday celebration this year.  Last Friday, I took her and three of her friends’ rock climbing and bouldering at a local indoor sports gymnasium. They had a great time, we started out with brick oven pizzas for lunch, they rock climbed, then we stopped for some roll cold ice cream.  It certainly was a day all about her.

The next day she got to enjoy a Maroon 5 concert with some of her friends. I got to tag along and I must say that I was not too upset about having to accompany them!

Then yesterday, her actual birthday, she and I spent some time at the spa for facials and pedicures. I think she did okay!

Happy Birthday to my Sweet Caroline! By the way, she hates that song-I don’t get it! Sorry, Neil Diamond!

P.S. I made her a special birthday card and forgot to take a picture of it! What was I thinking…

A little tidbit about Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Quality

Is Stampin’ Up!’s paper really heavier/better quality than the papers that I can buy elsewhere?

Paper, in general, is sold by weight based on 500 sheets of a base size. However, the “base size” varies for different types of paper. The standard is set in Grams per Square Meter (gsm or sometimes listed as g/m2). Cardstock that you generally buy in big box stores or office supply stores in America is labeled as 110 lbs which correlates to 162.8 gsm. While Stampin’ Up! cardstock ranges from 200 – 240 gsm which would be 135.1-162 lbs per the 500 sheets base size.

You’re not imagining it, Stampin’ Up! paper DOES feel different/heavier than other brands. This extra “weight” enables it to both sit straighter and longer on the shelf when being “shown off” and last longer when that card is being kept for remembrances (and you know many are!)

Stampin’ Up!’ Designer Series Paper (DSP) runs from 100 – 160 gsm which makes it 67 – 108 lbs. Imagine, some of our DSP is almost as heavy as what other companies sell as “cardstock!” It adds to the quality of the products!

However, the BEST thing about Stampin’ Up!’s DSP this month (July 1-31, 2018) is that much of it is ON SALE! You can buy 3 packages of select DSP and GET ONE package FREE! It’s a great time to stock up on all those wonderful new papers released with the new catalog. Just check out my website or contact me for help!

You’ll find our 53 colors of cardstock on pages 183-187 of the new catalog. Our DSP selections are on pages 188-191.

STAMPIN’ UP! BLENDS are now available!
You can order them here.

Hello July!

July 1, 2018June 25, 2018

Oh my!  It’s July already! Hope you’re all enjoying your summer! I think the kids and I are finally settling into a routine. You know, me getting up in the morning and asking them what can I do for you today?  Some days I feel  like that’s what they think!! It’s been difficult getting them to understand that even though I am home all day I still have work to do. Don’t get me wrong — I know I am extremely fortunate to be able to stay at home with my kiddos.  Summers can be challenging!

Enough about me! Today I just wanted to share a  picture of my July calendar page from my mini calendar set.

Fourth of July is coming up. When is everyone celebrating this year? It’s kind of tricky with the 4th being on a Wednesday. Do we celebrate the weekend before or the weekend after? Maybe both!

Happy stamping,
Wendy

StazOn Jet Black Ink vs. Tuxedo Black Memento Ink

June 25, 2018

Hello stamping friends!  Have you ever been confused about which black ink to use on your projects? StazOn or Tuxedo Black Memento?  Well, hopefully, I can clear that up for you. Here is my black ink guide for you.

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink  (#132708)
(Refill #133456)

  • Drys quickly
  • Permanent
  • Acid-free
  • Use with Stampin’ Blends and other alcohol inks
  • Fade resistant
  • Works well with photopolymer stamps

StazOn Jet Black Ink (#101406)
Refill #102566
StazOn Cleaner #109196

  • Permanent ink
  • Best for watercoloring and nonporous surfaces
  • Works well on window sheets, vellum, glossy paper,
    cellophane, glass, leather, and metal
  • Requires longer drying time

Extra tips!

Since we’re discussing inks, here are a few more tips for you.

  • Your local humidity can affect your drying times.
  • Non-porous and coated papers require extra drying time. Your heat tool may be helpful too. Think Vellum and Glossy cardstock.
  • It’s ALWAYS a good idea to purchase the refill when you purchase the stamp pad so you’ll never run out.

Hope this helps when you’re trying to figure out which black ink to use on your projects. Happy stamping!

Wendy
XOXO

Scrapbook Page – Celebrate!

June 20, 2018

Hello stamping friends! Hope you are  doing well and enjoying the summer so far.  My kiddos are settling in to summer nicely. My son started his job at Staples this week and my daughter already has had a beach trip with one of her friends. Me? I just had carpal tunnel surgery on my dominant hand (of course), but so far my recovery is going well.  I’m just not able to grip or twist things and no pain meds the day after, so I’m happy!

Today I thought I’d share with you a scrapbook page that I made. I love the simplicity of it. It goes together a very quickly (after you get all of the paper cut)!

The instructions are as follows:

SUPPLIES
Stamp Sets:
Perennial Birthday (145769)

INK:
Memento Black Pad (132708)

PAPER (including cutting dimensions):
Whisper White-Neutrals Cardstock (147003) 12×12 sheet; 4” x 6”; small scrap
Rich Razzleberry Cardstock (115316) 4-1/4”x 6-1/4”
Share What you Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (146926) 9-1/2”x1”; 10-1/2×1/2”; 9”x3/4”; 10-1/2×1”; 11×1/4”; 9-1/4×1/2”; 10”x3/4”; 10-1/2”x1.

ACCESSORIES:
SNAIL Adhesive (104332)
Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263)
Paper Snips (103579)
Banner Triple Punch (138292)
Celebrate You Thinlits (146840)
Stampin’ Blends – Rich Razzleberry Light (144584)
Stampin’ Blends – Old Olive Light (144574)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut all of your strips of DSP using the above dimensions and then using the Triple Banner Punch make your banners. The strips that are under 1”, I used my paper snips to make the banners.
Cut out your photo mat using Rich Razzleberry cardstock.
Cut out the word celebrate using the Celebrate You Thinlits in the Rich Razzleberry cardstock.
Adhere the cardstock strips starting with the first strip size on the above list and placing it approximately 3-1/2” from the top. Continue placing all of the cardstock strips in the order listed above until finished.
Next, place the photo mat over top of the strips.
I then adhered the word “celebrate” with Tombow glue.
Stamp some flowers from the Perennial Birthday stamp set randomly to the page and color in using the Stamping Blends.

Hope you get a chance to make this scrapbook page for yourself! Of course, if you need to order any of the products that I used to make this page, you can shop online at wdiem.stampinup.net

Happy stamping!

Mini Treat Box

June 11, 2018June 11, 2018

Hello stamping friends!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  Ours was relatively quiet for a change. My hubby got a bunch of friends from out of town together for some golfing, so it was just the kids and I hanging out.  Today I have a mini treat box tutorial to share with you. Some of the best things do really come in small packages! The great thing is that you can make eight small 2” x 1-1/2” gift boxes from one sheet of 12 x 12  Designer Series Paper (DSP). Maybe you could use some manly paper and add a little treat box to your Father’s Day gifts next weekend.

SUPPLIES
Paper (including cutting dimensions):
Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (146926): 3” x 6”

ACCESSORIES:
Grapefruit Grove 1/8” Grosgrain Ribbon (146954)
Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Bone Folder (102300)
Stampin’ Trimmer (126889)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Using your Stampin’ Trimmer, cut one sheet of DSP in half at 6”. Take one of the 6” x 12” strips and cut four 3” x 6” smaller strips. Each 3” x 6” strip will make one bag.
2. Score along the 6” side at 1-3/8”, 2-3/4″, 4-1/8”, 5-1/2″, rotate the paper and score along the short side 1”.  Note: when scoring, pay attention to which way you want your DSP to show when box is assembled.
3. Using your Bone Folder, crease all score lines.
4. See image where you will make your cuts. You will only cut out the smallest rectangle. You will then make three cuts along the bottom score lines up to the 1” score line; see image.

5. Apply Glue to the smallest remaining rectangle and fold the strip in half to seal closed.
6. Next, form the bottom of the box by closing the four flaps. You only need to glue the last flap closed; see the image below.
7. With the open side of the box, pinch in two sides and using your thumb and pointer finger, pinch and crease the box closed.
8. The last step is to tie the ribbon around the box to keep it closed.

Hope you have a chance to make some of these mini treat boxes!  As always please send me a message if you have any questions.  If you’d like to order any of the products that I used to make this treat box, click here to shop with me!

Happy stamping!
