Halloween Graveside Card Tutorial

September 28, 2018September 25, 2018

Hello friends! Did I tell you that Halloween is my favorite holiday to craft and decorate for? I’m not sure where my obsession with Halloween has come from, but I love it. Maybe it has something to do with my father being a Halloween baby!

Today I have a free tutorial for you! This is a graveside card that I created using the Everyday Label Punch to make my tombstones!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Punch out four “tombstones” in the Smoky Slate cardstock using the Everyday Label punch. Using your Stampin’ Trimmer cut off one end of each label to give the tombstone a flat edge. Add Smoky Slate ink using the Sponge Dauber to the edges of the tombstones to make them look distressed. Set aside.

2. Punch out two bats in Basic Black and one bat in Smoky Slate using the Twinkle Builder punch.

3. Stamp the moon using Crushed Curry ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Punch out the moon using the Twinkle Builder Punch. Stamp the cat on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in memento Black Ink. Make sure the ink is dry, then color in with Pumpkin Pie-Light Stampin’ Blend.

4. Stamp the sentiment “Happy Halloween” in Memento Black ink on the Whisper White cardstock banner.

5. Stamp some stars in memento Tuxedo Black ink on the Whisper White piece of cardstock. Once the ink dries, color in the stars using the Daffodil Delight-Light Stampin’ Blend.

6. You are now ready to assemble the card. Adhere all of your pieces to the 3-3/4”x5” piece of Whisper White cardstock to create your Halloween scene. Once you have your scene created, add the Brights DSP/striped piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock to the bottom of the tombstones. Adhere this Whisper White piece of cardstock with the scene to the Gorgeous Grape piece of cardstock. Next, add the Happy Halloween banner and then tie the Black Baker’s Twine around those pieces before attaching to the Basic Black card base.

7. Add a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of the card base for your sentiment. Decorate if you wish.

Distinktive Stamping

September 5, 2018

Hello friends!  First of all, today is the day the 2018 Holiday Catalog goes live!  Woot! Woot!  I’ve been having so much fun playing with all of the new goodies from the catalog.  When you’re a demonstrator you have the opportunity to pre-order goodies from the new catalog one month before it goes live. Just one of the perks of being a demo.

Today I am sharing with you a card that I made with my library ladies yesterday. This card features the Distinktive Stamps from Stampin’ Up!  SU now has a few different stamp sets using this technique.  These stamps use monochromatic dimension to your stamping. Distinktive stamps create different opacities in a single stamped image for real depth and intensity.

I overlooked this stamp set Wishing you Well at first.  But, then a card caught my eye on Pinterest or somewhere.  It has so many possibilities.  It has a “season’s greetings” sentiment, along with “just a note”, and  “wishing you well” just to name a few more.  You may want to consider adding this one to your stamp collection.  The bow in this set is just GORGEOUS!

Below is a list of the products that I used to create this elegant and simple card.

Wishing You Well Clear-Mount Stamp Set
$19.00

$7.50
Highland Heather Classic Stampin’ Pad

STAMPIN’ BLENDS TIP – have you tried the new Blends yet? They’re the perfect tool to add beautiful color and shading to all of your crafting projects. But did you know you can use your Blends to create custom-colored ribbon too?

Here’s my tip: Cut off the length you need of our 1/8” Whisper White Sheer Ribbon (144172). Now slide the side of the brush tip of your preferred Stampin’ Blend along the length of the ribbon to color it. It dries fast and you’ll be ready to add your custom ribbon to your project in no time!

You’ll find a list of the Singles and Combo Pack blends on page 204-205 of our Annual Catalog. Also, check out the new colors of Blends in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.

Do you have the new catalogs? Message me if you do not and would like one!

FREE TUTORIAL

Do you have a small treat or gift to wrap? Why not create this quick and easy gift bag! All you really need are the Gift Bag Punch Board, Designer Series Paper (I used the Share What you Love DSP because they’re heavyweight sheets) and some ribbon.

SUPPLIES:
Stamp Set: Love What You Do

INK:
Rich Razzleberry Stamp Pad

PAPER: (including cutting dimensions)
Share What you Love DSP
Rich Razzleberry stripes 6” x 12”
Mint Macaron and Old Olive flowers fussy cut flowers
Whisper White Cardstock 2 ¾” x 2 ¾”

ACCESSORIES:
Gift Bag Punch Board
Tear & Tape Adhesive
Mini Glue Dots
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Rich Razzleberry ¼” Velvet Ribbon
Pearlized Doilies
Stitched Shapes Framelits
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine
Paper Snips
Bone Folder

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Use the Gift Bag Punch Board to create your bag with your DSP, using the Large (L) side score line. Make sure that you place the correct side of the DSP into the punch board. You wouldn’t want the flowers (the other side of the Rich Razzleberry stripes) to be upside down!
2. Use the Reverse Punch on the punch board to create holes for your ribbon.
3. Crease at the score lines using the Bone Folder.
4. Assemble the bag using Tear & Tape.
5. Thread the ribbon through the holes and tie the ends together in a knot. Hide the knot on the inside of the bag.

September Already?

September 1, 2018August 29, 2018

Hello stamping friends!  Can you believe the summer is coming to an end already? I must admit that I am sort of glad that it’s September.  I love that our schedules slow down a bit during the summer and I enjoy hearing all of the teen conversations in the car while I’m playing Uber Mom for the summer!  Also, fall is my FAVORITE season!  I love the crispness in the air, the colors and Halloween.

As I’ve been doing all year along, I wanted to share with you today my September page for the mini calendar that I’ve created for this year.

Stay tuned for more info on the mini calendars.  I am putting together a kit “to go” for those of you who would like to create your own calendar for 2019.  They’re so much fun to create and then give as gifts during the holidays.  I now have people “hoping” to get a new calendar for a gift.

Happy stamping!

What to Write?

August 28, 2018August 23, 2018

Hello stamping friends! Do you ever struggle to find the right words when sending a card? I know I do, especially with sympathy cards.  I found this great book by J. Beverly Daniels that gives you lots of ideas for what to write when you’re struggling.

I thought I’d share a few ideas today for when writing sympathy cards.

May time accomplish what no words can do.
Words are so inadequate at a time like this.
May God be with you at this time.
My heart is reaching out to you in sympathy and prayer.
Our sympathy and warmest thoughts are with you now.
We’re with you in our thoughts today.
May time be a source of healing for you at this time.
May the love of family and friends bring you peace and comfort.

Thanks for reading today my friends. Hope you can put this post to good use when you need it.

Happy stamping,
Wendy

It’s August!

August 1, 2018July 30, 2018

Hello everyone! Can you believe that it’s August already?  My family and I are vacationing this week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Once we get back home, there will only be three weeks of summer vacation left before the kiddos go back to school.

Here is a pic of the August calendar page from my mini calendar that I created using the High Tide stamp set. This works out perfectly for this month, since we are at the beach. Enjoy!
